Ionian Rally 2009

Monday 14th September 2008 - Thursday 17th September 2009

After the raging success of last year we are delighted to be running the event again. Starting on Monday 14th September with 3 days racing staying overnight in two different ports.

It is open to all levels of racers, last year we had some complete novices to racing and they really enjoyed the opportunity to learn and improve (especially gearing them up for the Regatta on Thursday).

Monday: The route takes you from the start near Nidri to Port Atheni on Meganisi Island, a fantastic group meal and an all embracing Greek night.

Tuesday: The race continues to Kastos Island with a supposedly quieter night and a chance to eat where you like.

Wednesday: The race starts just outside the harbour, round the south end of Meganisi and finishing in the Meganisi channel. This then gives you choices of where to go that evening, ready for the start of the Regatta the following day at around 2pm (depending on the class you have entered).

On the Rally we offer a tender towing service as part of your entry fee, so no excuses for slowing you down! Each evening there will be prizes to reflect that days racing and the overall points added to the results sheet, with a copy being given to you, so you can see where you are lying each day. Your Regatta race result from Thursday will also be included into the Rally, to give you an overall Rally result.

The final prize giving (with practical decent prizes) will happen sometime on the Thursday evening.

If you have any questions or wish to enter, then please drop us an email. We look forward to you joining us on the Rally, Toucan will be the committee boat and Milly is coming along as the mascot!

11.0    SPONSORSHIP
Competitors may be required by the Organizers to carry the event sponsors numbering system  on their sails/boats.

12.0    DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

12.1      Decision to Race - The helm and crew of a boat are entirely responsible for their own safety , whether afloat or ashore and nothing , whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this responsibility.

12.2     It is for the helm and crew of the boat to decide whether she is fit to sail in the conditions in which she will find herself . By launching or going to sea, and or staying at sea, the boat confirms that she is fit for those conditions and her crew is competent to sail and compete in them.

12.3     Nothing done by the organiser can reduce the responsibility of the helm or crew of a boat nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred as a result of the boat taking part in racing. The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event and includes the Organising Authority, the Race Committee, the Race Officers, patrol boats and beach masters.

12.4     The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the helm and crew of a boat of their responsibilities
